This annexation thing is a real soap opera. It will get even more emotional and less rational when people tune in and become more engaged during the legislative session. I don’t envy city, county and state elected officials over the next year. Glad I am not in unincorporated Dekalb.

I predict an eventual area map that looks nothing like the annexation maps proposed right now.

Wouldn’t it be something if, after all this, none of the referendums for incorporation or annexation succeeded?

I keep hearing that all that all of this has been in the works for years, but everything seems put together incredibly haphazardly. Frankly I hope they all fail until more time and thought is given to what will happen to these neighborhoods individually and the county as a WHOLE, very long term.

Too many maybes involved, maybe new incorporated neighborhoods can do this or that down the line, start schools, blah blah blah. There is absolutely no need to rush, the long term consequences are just too great. I’m really feeling for Medlock, it’s an awesome neighborhood and they deserve so much better than to be hit with one sht storm right after the next, after the next. It’s not just a place with houses, actual human beings live there too. (I don’t live there just a sympathizer.)

It may be that chaos is inevitable. Something can be in the works for years and hell will still be unleashed when people become engaged.

I have a feeling that Medlock will be incorporated into Atlanta or Lavista Hills. Both could annex it easier than Decatur.

The Kirkwood urban forest is awesome!
