Wow, the football coach resigned after only 1 year. Geez!!!

When they announced his hiring I was immediately skeptical he’d be around very long given his epic commute.

Read the article. His wife hasn’t been able to find a job around here, so they’ve been living in Cartersville while he commuted here and she commuted to Summerville. Tough even without factoring in their 2-year old kid. The Lumpkin County school offered them both jobs.

Ah, that makes sense. I just figured he was tired of all the helicopters hovering over practice. I hear that Lumpkin County has a lot more free range players.

The current article wasn’t the article that was linked to it this morning. The initial article just had that he was resigning.

I wish the snowball cafe would bring back sandwiches/lunch food.

Sad to see another coach go, but family comes first. Completely understandable.

What I’d like to see is Decatur be competitive on the field again. It’s been far too long since we’ve been good. The early 90s is the last time I can remember DHS fielding a good team for consecutive seasons.

Too bad about the football coach. That is an extremely bad commute and with a 2 year old! I hope Renfroe ball and the outreach to the Druid Hills youth program stay intact. Feeding the program with players moving up is a great way to really improve the DHS team. Too bad CSD couldn’t find a way to employ his wife and keep them local. I notice he’s also going to be the Athletic Director at Lumpkin. Probably more $ and much better cost of living.

Wait a minute, I just took a look at the Senior Shuttle route. All the residential stops are in Oakhurst!? Are there no seniors in other parts of town? Winonna Park? Glennwood? Chelsea Heights? What’s up with that? Hey Scott Drake – here’s an issue for you as new commissioner.

It’s a pilot program serving Oakhurst according to the info posted.

“The City of Decatur is starting a 6 month pilot shuttle program (March through August 2013) on Wednesdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for Oakhurst neighborhood residents age 60 and older to come to downtown Decatur thanks to a mini-grant from the Georgia Department of Human Services Division of Aging Services. “

          oh, thanks for the clarification.

at first i thought it said “Senior Shuffle”. and was wondering how those folks were going to dance for four hours straight.

          never mind.
