New Century Buffet on Scott Boulevard Closed in May

    Decatur Metro | June 20, 2010 | 1:53 pm

New Century Buffet on Scott closed. I’m guessing that won’t upset too many people around here but my kids liked it and the people there were very nice. Drove by the other night and the sign says the last day was May 28. I’m not the only one who didn’t realize they’d closed – 3 cars pulled in after us.

I have good friends who loved to congregate there on a Monday night. My hubs and I joined them several times, but eventually declined their invitations. And I never told them why (hmm…maybe now they will know!). The food was terribly so-so and sometimes questionable (my friends would not agree), and yet the folks there were very nice. We always grabbed a big table and had lots of time and room for talk.

Gotta say, not great food, but still a spot my son and I couldn’t resist. The owners were incredibly nice people and I am sad to see them go.

We went on their last night. Lovely people – moved back to Taiwan.

Went one time and didn’t care for the place. We like the smaller restaurant in the Kroger strip at N. Decatur and Dekalb Industrial.

I could never figure out what kind of food they served from the exterior so I never went.

If only they’d hired the Decatur Diner design team to repaint their exterior……

Wow…I live just around the corner and didn’t realize it had closed. Of course, I never went there to eat, either.
