Wanda sends the details for this year’s Pine LakeFest in nearby Pine Lake …

Pine LakeFest–two days of art, live music, food and family fun–will be held the first weekend in October, on the shores of beautiful Pine Lake.  By tradition, this quirky festival brings together many talented local and regional artist vendors, for an eclectic marketplace offering fine handmade art and crafts and lots of surprises. Pine Lake is located between Decatur and Stone Mountain, 4620 Lakeshore Drive, Pine Lake 30072. Admission and parking are free.

Five Decatur artists are among those featured at LakeFest this year.  Leslie Deveaux-Christian, owner of “Natural Chic” and Gretchen Wyatt-Scott of “Ronita Designs,” specialize in handmade apparel. Corrie Ladd of “Bones & Blooms” is a jeweler, and Jennifer Montgomery (aka Jen Monty) creates whimsical mixed-media sculptures at Jen Monty Studios.

DeKalb Medical Wellness Center is a sponsor of LakeFest, and will host a health and wellness booth at the festival to answer questions, do assessments, and offer wellness tips.  Dr. Niklaus DelFavero of 1st Choice Sports Rehab in Decatur will also host a health and wellness booth.

Activities at LakeFest include live music, poetry readings by Georgia writers, chalk art and sandcastle contests on the beach, kids’ hands-on crafts, a pet show, and a wild water parade, “Floatzilla!” led by the “Seed and Feed Marching Abominables.” Festival hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, October 1, and 12 p.m. to 6 pm. on Sunday, October 2.
