Theft Reported at Ebster Basketball Court; Victims Threatened with Gun

Following up on a FFAF comment from this morning, we received this report from Decatur Police…

On 05/14/2015 at approximately 5:30 pm, Decatur Police responded to a theft on the Ebster basketball court at the rear of the Beacon Municipal Center.  The victims stated they were playing basketball and observed the suspect walk from the woods behind the court to where their belongings were laying on the ground on the side of the court.  The suspect picked up a back pack and phone and walked toward the stairs that lead to the CSD parking lot off of Electric Avenue.  The victims followed the suspect and one of the victims told the suspect to give back the belongings.  The suspect then lifted his shirt and showed a gray item, believed to be a handgun, in his waistband and threatened the victim.  The suspect then fled toward West Trinity Place.  The victims retreated and were not injured.

The suspect was described as a black male, approximately 18-25 years old, approximately 6’ tall and 160-170 lbs, with a dark complexion, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt pulled over his head and face and dark jeans.
