UPDATE: Decatur Police Lt. Jennifer Ross reports…

We had a tree fall on a city truck. Nobody was hurt. The road is clear now.

You can see the truck in the pic above.

Tammy sends along this photo and reports a large oak tree has fallen across Coventry Road at Scott Boulevard on the Downtown Decatur side.

I guess the ground is just really wet from all the rain.

We’ve reached out to Decatur PD for more info.  Will update when we know more.

  1. The fire department has Coventry blocked off at Scott so, if you need to go that way, find another option. It’s on the east side of Scott, not the side of Coventry headed towards Emory.

  2. Also as of this morning the light at Kirk & Candler is still out because of a tree which fell yesterday afternoon.

    1. And I’m sure all of the wonderful drivers are treating it as the 3-way stop it has now legally become.

  3. Working from home and heard it happen. Thankfully our lights only flickered and the power went out for a second or two before coming back. Hope everyone else was as lucky!

    1. Lost power for several hours yesterday due to the tree that Robert mentions above. Had to actually talk to my neighbors when everyone went outside to deal with the shock of a device-less existence.

    1. Call Georgia Power. Their phone system has been helpful to me in the past. It will give you an ETA and offer to give you an auto-call back when power has been restored.

  4. Thankful that no one was hurt. I love our big, beautiful, leafy trees, but am always a bit uneasy of them falling after lots of rain and wind.

  5. The trees were upset nobody invited them to touch-a-truck a few months ago. That’s all they wanted.

  6. I’m glad nobody was hurt….and, more importantly, that my trash was already picked up by the time this incident occurred.
