Sad news. I’ll miss their shelves filled with books intelligently selected.
It would appear that this story may not quite be finished. Apparently Cartel (owner of the building and Little Azio) was not aware of the pending change in ownership and has serious issues with a food-oriented café sitting next to their existing restaurant. This makes sense, of course: books and coffee aren’t competition, but coffee and sandwiches are.
Yes, I’ve really enjoyed their thoughtful selection of books. I had much better luck finding great books there than at Wordsmiths. The coffee competition in the area is tough, though, with Dancing Goats and Starbucks so nearby. I hope it pulls through. Great little store.
They are planning to continue carrying Counter Culture Coffee, which is a relief, but it sounds like the new owner may be too cost-conscious to continue carrying Alon’s pastries. That would be a huge disappointment; it’s a long walk to Method (the next closest Alon’s outlet).
