The Top Wedding Spot In Atlanta

March 18, 2009 | 9:11 am

A post on “Associated Content”, ranks our Old Courthouse as the #1 spot in the metro area to have a summer wedding, beating out Callanwolde, Paris on Ponce, the Inn at Serenbe, and the Sweetwater Brewery.

But this ranker seems to be just one person’s opinion, not based on any sort of broad-based opinion poll or ranker created from a bunch of random qualifiers.

So, whatcha think?  Is the Old Courthouse the top locale for a summer ATL wedding?

And no, you can’t have the reception in “Quizno’s Plaza.”

A reception there, maybe. Not a wedding though, unless it is a civil war theme or a civil case theme.

This past Saturday, as I was walking to Eddie’s Attic for a concert, I saw a bunch of folks in tuxes and dresses. I think they were heading to a wedding inside the Courthouse. Looking up at each window, there were lit candles — it was quite pretty. I would have never thought to hold a wedding there, but it looked great from the outside.

I think it is very popluar- a lot of the wedding parties also like to rent the Community bandstand for an outdoor wedding followed by the reception in the Old Courthouse.

That sounds much better than the ceremony in the Courthouse. Elegant yes, but romantic, no. Reception would be perfect.

I have been to some great receptions there. Great place to dance :)

I’ve stumbled across at least three or four weddings there during the just over three years we’ve lived in Decatur, and I’m sure there were many more that we missed. The nighttime ones were especially pretty. Walking by it most days, you wouldn’t think of it for that purpose, but once you see one taking place there, it makes sense (the statue of the old couple in love doesn’t hurt).

We had our reception there almost 14 years ago. It was Labor Day Weekend and the concert on the Square was a full Military Band. Everyone thought they band and craowd was there for the reception. It was a great night!
