My commute home yesterday was already long and clogged despite no precipitation of any sort, just advance notice of precipitation in 8-12 hours. It's becoming clear to me that our inability to handle traffic volume increases of any amount is the real disaster. Doesn't matter what the danger--snow, flooding, power outages, rain, bomb, tornado, nuclear disaster--our roads can't handle it and we'll just have to hunker down in place either on the roads or in our buildings.
