That guy was all over the place south of Memorial for a couple of years – bright yellow trucks with cartoon socks on ‘em. And then overnight, he just disappeared. The trucks were gone, the multiple storefronts were shuttered. I’d like to know what happened to him – did he overextend the business model? Did he get cut out of the production line? Or did he just grow too big too fast?

When this place was Sockman headquarters a couple of years ago it was my favorite building in the area. The giant, happy sock cartoon made me smile everytime I went by it. And I was always a bit confused how someone could just sell socks like that. We still see the truck driving around sometimes. Thanks to this posting I did a quick search and came up with this Creative Loafing article from 2009. Pretty interesting as the guy actually had many successful stores. Hope he is doing okay.
