My 14 year old just got back from the course. While others had paid, he was the only one who showed up and so he had a private lesson for the entire day. He said he learned SO much about bike safety and bike competence. He learned all kinds of tricks while actually on the bike such as how to safely navigate debris in the road, what to do if a car cuts you off, etc. He even learned how to fix a flat. Neil was a very enthusiastic, experienced, expert instructor. Thanks, City of Decatur and Neil!

Does anyone know if “children over 14 years of age” incorporates 14 year olds who are 14 years and 3 weeks? does it mean 14 and older? or are they seeking 15 and older?

Cheryl, is there a source for consistent info on the scheduling of these rides? Wondering if I could even keep up on my beach cruiser (with handlebar tassels, of course).

It was nice meeting you Keith, and now you are no longer anonymous! Glad to see we inspired you to get your bike fixed up and ready to ride. Maybe you will join us on the BIke Decatur second Friday bike ride. Next one is August 9- a social five mile-ish ride, then a stop at a local watering hole.

Yup, and if you were taking Decatur 101, you might have just seen her speak and if you had a kindergartener, they might have just done an expedition to her office. The small town aspect of Decatur is awesome and we rarely venture into the sordidness of Peyton Place or snarkiness of middle school. I like to think we’re kind of like Cicely, Alaska in Northern Exposure but DM has replaced the disk jockey role.
