Correction: It wasn’t a few neighborhoods that didn’t want them but a few loud objectors in a few neighborhoods. The households in those neighborhoods were never polled. If they had been, I’ll bet those neighborhoods would have sidewalks now.

In all seriousness, that was the City’s goal when they were using bond money to build sidewalks in the past few years. A few neighborhoods, though, did not want the sidewalks, so they didn’t get them.

Everywhere in Decatur should have sidewalks on at least one side of the street. Is it too late to get that on the ballot as Amendment 3?:

Provides for improving student achievement and parental involvement through more sidewalk options.

Shall the Constitution of Georgia be amended to allow state or local approval of sidewalks upon the request of local Decatur Metro bloggers?
