I assume Court House is open and full of people who leave angry after their court day, who have to pay pretty hight fees for their mistakes. Downtown Decatur gets busy and it’s walkable, so they begin to wonder by checking the neighborhoods….

Also have the Fellows and agree don’t go cheap. The Fellows will shred a credit card and those solicitation letters from State Farm without having to open them (if they are not too thick.)

I highly recommend the Fellowes brand shredders. Got one on sale for about $80 a few years ago. Don’t go too cheap or it will jam constantly. We shred everything with our name and address on it. May be extreme, but we feel better doing it.

Another house was broken into in Decatur Heights last week in which the wires for the alarm were cut. That one didn’t make it to the neighborhood google group.

The benefits (health insurance) have been said to be attractive to members of other School Boards too. I’d like to know whether those benefits cost the school systems in question anything. If it’s part of a lump sum coverage of employees that doesn’t cost extra, no big deal. But if it’s a cost to the taxpayers that wouldn’t otherwise occur, a bigger deal. There’s plenty of folks willing to be School Board members so offering health insurance is not a necessity to have a decent School Board. In fact, I trust members more if they don’t need the stipend or benefits.
