And don’t worry, I do realize that Penny (as well as our “king and queen” ;-)), appreciates what we are doing for her! When Penny started having her accidents after starting the Prednizone, I knew it wasn’t really her fault but it was still pretty disconcerting and I got annoyed at having to clean up after her. Then one evening as she lay next to the couch I saw that she started peeing. Because of the other sedative she was on, she probably didn’t even realize that she had to go until she started. Once she realized it and it was too late to get outside, she turned over on her back so that the pee would get on her rather than the floor. Then she looked at me as if to say “Please don’t tell me this means I’m going back to the shelter!”

Now, in all honesty, I’d rather she just peed on the floor. Since we’ve taken up all the rugs, it’s actually easier to mop and wipe the floor than it is to wash it off her. But after seeing that, I just couldn’t get mad at her.

Reading all the lost dog threads, as well as the random comments that show up in others, it’s funny to see how how some folks become completely different people when talking about their furry companions. I’ve floated the idea of a DM happy hour in the past, and even held one to limited success, but what we really need is a DM happy hour AT THE DOG PARK! Now who’s up for that?!?

Thank you so much for sharing the update on Penny! We had a foster here (from DM: Winnona Park New Year’s Day) for several months that I grew to love, but my alpha female couldn’t handle, so I sympathize with your struggles.

The greatest thing I heard while he was here, and that you should know: You are doing amazing things taking care of her. Accidents, medical treatments, pack acceptance, etc. Please know those sweet babies appreciate you!
