Exactly what I was thinking…they’ve just given it a twist and I guess theoretically it’s for new businesses or maybe you can also ask for money for expanding businesses….not sure what the “rules” are.

Yeah, I don’t see how this ask is any different than buying a Groupon deal, really. You are basically pre-buying for a discount.

I agree. At $2.00 per donut at the Decatur Farmer’s Market, the dividends on the Kickstarter investment are looking pretty good. And if it’s in your personal interest to have yummy donuts and coffee in your neighborhood, then you come out ahead.

Revolution Donuts is my first exposure to Kickstarter and I gave it a shot. Will be interesting to see how it works out. My first inclination was it was just cyber-begging, but with a little research I found that for this deal I’ll reap donut and coffee dividends. How awesome is that?!?

Maybe you’re on to something here. Perhaps the state figured if it made the “regular” plate as ugly as possible, more folks would pay the upgrade for specialty plates. We do have a bit of a revenue crisis going on, after all. Oh, I see someone else has made the same observation below…
