Those interested in the "funky" Walmart at Suburban can now watch a 31 min. video of the opening comments by Selig and Walmart reps at http://bit.ly/SeligWalmartIntrosDM20111130. Videos of most of the Q&A are coming soon. You can learn more about the impact of the Walmart by watching a (6yr old) movie at the Push Push Theatre on 12/6: http://bit.ly/WalmartMovPush20111206. Apparently there are anti-Walmart forces organizing in Decatur.

Everyone-all PetSupermarket stores are remodeling - go visit Toco Hills store. It was when they started the remodeling that they discovered the issue. Melton's had rats before they may have realized it, as did all the businesses. One rat means many. Don't blame the vicitims - wood piles + food - it is the owner of a building in much need of repair. Did you know that the PetSupermarket folks were working without air conditioning? Why - the owner of the building.

Both Melton's and PetSupermarket were impacted by the on-going wood pile behind them - home to rats and other varmits. This was the original site of the DeKalb Farmer's Market, which also had a rat problem. The issue is that you cannot have piles and piles of wood and other items and not have rats. So, these two - and the others - have paid a very high price with neighbors and business income due to a very complex problem not of their origination.

Given the WalMart moment, it is important to continue to support these businesses, along with all those employing local folks.

MMM, I had a craving for Melton's today. Can't wait for them to reopen, and can't wait to throw my Pet Supermarket coupon in the trash. Not worth the $5 for the inconvience of not having my Irish Nachos.

Ralph did a good job on the Cover-It-Live at Patch.

Another "Cover It Life" live blogging of the meeting (including Dean's tweets and my comments) can be replayed at: http://bit.ly/SeligWM20111130CIL

The full 2 hour audio recording of the meeting can be heard at: http://bit.ly/SeligWM20111130Audio.

Video of the first 1 1/2 hours is being produced (in segments) and will be posted at http://bit.ly/DecaturHeightsGA later today.

A cameraman filmed clips to possibly be used on Ch. 5, 11, or 46.

We could say the event was WELL documented.
