Speaking of the cemetery, what is the deal with the cemetery fence on the curve on Commerce next to mini-Kroger? Some driver evidently took the curve too fast and took out a section months ago, and it's been down ever since. I know repairing old wrought-iron fence isn't cheap, but really . . . Does anyone have the skinny on what happened and why so long to fix it?

I haven't been in that area for years but in the early 60's we use to catch fish in the biggest pool. I don't know if it is the one in the photo. It seemed huge back then but looks smaller now. I look forward to going back.

I am guessing that they made that bridge bigger for maintenance and repair of the sewer line that runs the full length of the creek in that area. That equipment can be quite heavy. I would also speculate that it was one of the reasons they wanted access to that area.

Dog walkers, baby walkers, joggers and strollers will enjoy this path for decades. Although Decatur will lose one of it's few remaining "wilderness" areas, the upside is that thousands of people will see this area that never would have before. Also a nice shortcut for some.
