But there’s a point where the contracts being awarded have less to do with who can complete a quality project at a reasonable cost to taxpayers, and more to do with politics. I’m not suggesting that about this particular project, but it’s still a large number to swallow. Cheaper isn’t always better, but $272,000 for sidewalks?

I simply can not understand the economics of these projects. Assuming 1800 ft of sidewalk @ $272,000…. my little calculater says that is about $450 for every three foot section. I do not understand….

Replacing a two and a half car length of concrete driveway easily costs 3000 so 270k isn’t too bad.
