Not many in Decatur today would get excited about someone who rocked this town in the 1930s but think about this from a country&western point of view. Dr. Raper took his Agnes Scott students to Tuskegee Institute on an over-night field. During the 1930s!!! OMG! (New Georgia Encyclopedia: “He took the opportunity to show his all-white, all-female students the significance of the surrounding racial climate, but he went too far for parents and alumni when he took his classes on an overnight trip to the all-black Tuskegee Institute in Tuskegee, Alabama.”)
