Thank you, Bijoux404. I regard knowing the difference between it’s and its as way more important than whether one prefers Lewis or Rowling. I re-read both.
Here’s the deal with the apostrophe: It’s never used to form plurals. It’s often used to form the possessive, but NOT in the case of the possessive of “it,” which is “its.” Think of “his”, also a pronominal possessive but WITHOUT an apostrophe.
