I really like the bleak, Dr. Zhivago, track to Varishnikov look of the picture.
This is the time of year to rent that movie if you’ve never seen it. Stock up
on vodka, champagne, blini and caviar. Build a fire, pull up some rugs, especially furry ones.
Spend an evening with great actors: Omar Sharif, Julie Christie, and the lovely Geraldine Chaplin (she must have been a teenager when she made this.) Also, Rod Steiger, Alec Guiness, Tom Courtney, Ralph Richardson, and Klaus Kinski in a small key role.
Screenplay by Robert Bolt, novel by Boris Pasternak. Directed by David Lean.
