There were also two gentlemen on bicycles who also appeared to be part of the race. After backing up traffic on Ponce de Leon considerably (people in the opposite lane were also stopping, I think because it was Sunday and they thought it was a funeral), the man got into one of the police escort cars around Briarcliff and the bicycles continued. It seemed like a lot of police manpower (two motorcycles, two squad cars) for 3 participants. It was weird, I would love to know what the event was. It appeared to be part of some kind of race.
