Interestingly, I hear that displaying plastic pink flamingos in one’s yard is meant to signify that that the folks living there are swingers. My friend told me this while on a walk around our neighborhood, where there is a house that has a proud and yet strikingly out-of-place display of carefully-placed pink flamingos. No other cutesy or kitschy stuff in the yard – in fact, it’s a rather estately home, extremely well manicured lawn, etc. These folks also tend to have a lot of big parties, too, so I’m starting to put two and two together.

This blogger, formerly living in Atlanta, also mentions the practice of some network of swingers around Atlanta displaying flamingos to signify swinger status.

also, I had to check my yard and make sure my flamingos were there. I had 4 when i put them there….alas one day last summer one disappeared.
