As far as I know, that triangle of land (with the sign et al) is not within Decatur city limits. I know the Parkwood neighborhood association (W and E Parkwood, Upland Rd, Parkwood Lane and Wimberly Ct) maintained it for years. Anyone have any idea how Decatur assumed responsibility?

I’ve always assumed the new signage is the product of design-by-committee. Anybody know for sure?

I agree the abbreviations on the “wayfinding” signage are bizarre. Why not bring the font size down a tad and use the whole word? I hate those signs.

If anyone could post pix of the old signage vs the new signage, I’d love to see it. I can’t remember enough to judge the difference. I know I liked the multicolor version, kind of a preschool, primary color motif.

Free the old signage!
New signage with it weird abbreviations, suburban styling, and dull colors depresses me.
Reminds me of what you’d find in a suburb called Hickory Estates where all the trees were cleared to put in the subdivision.
(And get a new motto)
