As an average American male and husband, I just have to respond to your opinion about our clothing habits.

You are absolutely right! I hate buying clothes, which means I wear mine until people on the street begin looking askance. And I’m still reeling from my wife’s decision to get rid of all my 80’s concert shirts. You know the ones…white shirt with a picture of the band on the front and the dates/venues on the back, with black 3/4-sleeves. I mean, how else am I going to remember Deep Purple’s 1984 reunion tour?

You can also cruise the sale racks at Target or Wal Mart! Sometimes you can pick up some nice stuff for a couple of bucks (and then write it off as I assume the shelter is a 501 c3)

That’s because my husband, I mean your average American male, doesn’t buy clothes. He wears them until they are so holey or stretched out or out of date that I, I mean his theoretical wife, throws them out. Even if he has gained a major amount of weight since his bachelor days, he still wears them. Maybe I, I mean a theoretical wife, could use the argument that shelters need men’s clothes before they become ragged as a rational for rotating the wardrobe a little quicker.
