The schools can always use more money, so why not sell the mascot naming rights? The Decatur Brick Store Belgian Bulldogs? The Decatur Fighting Farmers Markets? The Decatur Raging Burrito Beaneaters? Or my favorite, The Decatur Red (formerly known as) Granges.

And yes… our mascot was a guy in a skirt (well, a kilt to be exact). We didn’t have a football team… only a soccer team and a few other “lesser” sports. If we had fielded a football team, I’m sure we would have had to do something about the guy with the skirt.

Not that there’s anything wrong with a guy in a skirt….. I know, this is Decatur.

Needless to say, I’m not complainin’ about no bulldog.

I just realize that we’d definitely win more if we were yellow jackets or something like that.

Hey, with all the big hype around here about urban farming… why don’t we rename ourselves the Decatur High School Urban Chickens?
