In the email alert request, you can say which types of crimes you want to be reported to you and within what radius of whatever address you use.

Seems like this pair may be branching out from the Emory area. A red car was seen just prior to someone getting robbed at gunpoint near the Nature Preserve Sunday evening. From our neighborhood email watch, “10/25 Robbery at Gun Point: (Case Number: 09-127991) A neighbor walking in the 2300 Block of Harrington drive (Near where Harrington and Pine Bluff meet) in the evening was robbed at gunpoint. … A neighbor had been walking down the street and was held up at gunpoint for his wallet. The neighbor had seen a red sports car go by earlier, then someone approached him on foot. After taking his wallet, the mugger ran off and the neighbor heard a car speed away from somewhere nearby.”

Sorry I shouldn’t have used that link.

As I stated in my post, the email that was sent noted no crime in the past week. My observation had nothing to do with the map. However, if you look at the past 7 days there are indeed 4 thefts on the map, over the last 3 days. I’m not sure why the email didn’t note those.

That said, that kidnapping is indeed alarming.

crimereports.com lets you select exactly what things you want to see. It also looks to me like the updates have been less than consistent the past few weeks and I’ve inquired about that to the PD.

I think the reason you’re seeing no real crime to speak of is because the link you provided to Crime Reports only has traffic crimes selected under the “Crime Types” menu. Unfortunately, if you select “Show All,” the picture for Decatur doesn’t look quite so rosy with a couple of thefts, a drug deal and what looks like a kidnapping.
