I also heard that the preschool wanted to have their festival in Oakhurst (or in Decatur), because most of the kids and parents still live in Oakhurst, but that Mayor Floyd and the city manager blocked this from happening because the school is now technically outside of the city limits. Why is Jasper in Pickens County and not Jasper County? Why is Clayton in Rabun County and not Clayton County? Why is Macon in Bibb County and not Macon County? Why isn't Grady Hospital in Grady County? There's too many geographical units in Georgia to have enough logical names! California, with 36 million people, has only 58 counties whereas Georgia, population 9.7 million, has 159 counties! It’s so Georgia.
