No kidding, Snowflake. While a number of DM posters (myself included) sometimes get caught up emotionally in a subject, we at least try to remain civil and DM rarely needs to moderate/edit. But I just can’t read open news blogs; the vitriol and hatred from so many angry people on all sides is impossible to wade through. This is probably one of the reasons CL chose DM as its favorite local blog. Ouch! I just hurt my arm patting all of us on the back.

IMHO, DM posters are definitely a lot wittier! I don’t even read most newspaper blogs, the stuff is so predictable. By the way, I thought that “funny but mean” teacher was a fantastic educator. She kept the kids on their toes, either laughing or putting their noses to the grindstone.

Oh, my, Snowflake! You don’t spend much time on the political blogs, do you? Or the AJC’s opinion blogs (both progressive & conservative)? I can guarantee you, we’re a bunch of pussycats in comparison. That ain’t no exaggeration, neither!

I’d rather get up in front of a huge audience of PhD critics than debate in front of this crowd! This posters on this blog are as tough an audience as any anywhere! No matter which candidate, he/she better be prepared for some heavy duty blasts, even if Decatur Metro tries to keep things civil. Reminds me of how my son described his 4th grade teacher–funny but mean.

This has been my experience as well. I had a couple thousand pounds of rotted, tar-soaked railroad ties that we emailed the city about. They said just stack ‘em on the street next to the curb, which we did, and they sent a crew with a special truck to pick them up.
