Scanning quickly back down the contents though, I'd estimate that over 60% of the comments weren’t even on the subject being discussed. Another 10% were people expressing concern and shock (can’t believe this happened on my doorstep, etc.), and another hefty percentage was people commending the DPD in general, and Chief Booker (either in general, or specifically for taking the time to keep us informed via his comments on DM). Hence, I think there was a lot of gratitude and respect for the DPD.Also, to be fair, the story wasn’t too breathtaking. Neighbor tips off police; police catch robbers; police find stolen goods and return them to victim. It’s probably what a lot of police work is all about, but it doesn’t have the same impact as guns and car jackings!DM, sorry to imply your story was less gripping than your normal postings! Further, the problem is not merely a "perceived" problem (and for which, incidentally, no one was blaming the DPD for-- we merely wondered whether they didn't need more help). Many of us let the Chief know just how much we appreciated him & his department yesterday, but if it makes you feel better, I'll acknowledge that the Department deserves its propers on this one, too, and if I didn't say it before, I'm saying it now.
