Make sure you have opted in to the CodeRed Weather Warning in addition to the regular CodeRed system. We added the Weather Warning option after the initial CodeRed Alert system. So, anyone who first registered for the CodeRed alert system had to go back in a register again for the Weather Warning. If you are signing up for the first time, you can choose to opt in for one or both.

Code Red sends out a Weather Warning through the National Weather Service. It is not sent out by the City of Decatur. It goes to anyone near the area that is in the "danger" zone.

I received one call on my cell phone and another on my home phone. It will call all numbers that you register.

The ASC siren is based on county-wide warnings. The code red calls are done on "storm-based" warnings, so they alert only people more directly in the path of the particular storms. See http://www.coderedweather.com/ for their explanation of why they call a lot fewer people than the whole county list. I'm guessing those of us with registered addresses in and around downtown Decatur didn't get called because the paths of the two major storms that had associated tornado warnings Wednesday night went either well north or well south of downtown Decatur.

Resident, you must opt-in to get weather related Code Red calls. If you haven't opted-in, that's why you didn't get them.

I received SIX CodeRed calls. That calling frenzy was almost more troubling than hearing the sirens in Avondale (where I was when they first sounded). It sure is a benefit having Agnes Scott nearby, and the power of their sirens is tremendous. Interestingly, I've been inside buildings on campus during the sirens, and we couldn't hear them at all.
