Went to Parkers last night. Parts good, parts just a bit weird. Nice space, very polite, courteous and service minded staff. I thought the bare blank walls in the back room needed some art of some sort. Nicely set tables, good menu, a little crowded space wise, but not a big deal. The food was good. Here are the issues we had........2 meals grossly undercooked, and sent back for further cooking, apologies made, never rechecked for satisfaction, as my food was still undercooked to my liking, but i ate it anyway without further complaint. So, 2 of us were eating, and 2 of us were waiting for our food to be recooked. This was uncomfortable and awkward, and no service recovery offered other than apologies. Had to ask for steak knives, and extra forks, and sat with empty plates for longer periods of time than should have. I did like the fact that they don't ask you what you ordered when placing your food down, they just knew and that was good. Another issue was that we ordered a bottle of wine that was great, and then another bottle. The server opened the second bottle and then added some wine to the already partially full glass of the taster. Can't tell if the bottle is bad if there is still some wine leftover. The place is nice, and food good, but in this economy with folks watching their money and saving to go out on a night like this, some of these errors are not ok. A steak house should know how to cook steak the way the customer ordered it. Period. Parkers is attempting to be a high end steak house, but really needs to train it's staff in the art of catering to their clients needs before having to ask, and to pay attention to detail. I would expect what occured to us as Teds, Outback, or Longhorn, but not at a place like Parkers. I will ask around to see if others noticed the issues we had. (I did notice the table next to us had a similar issue and was offered a free glass of wine.) In the meantime, I will think twice before spending $200 on a meal where there are serious lapses in service.
