The “pirates” are a bunch of grown folk who run around acting like lunatics for a day as if they own the town. Good on them, I’ve always thought, until I heard from friends who own local businesses who talk of an endless day of idiots in shoddy costumes trolling Decatur offering to pay in plastic dubloons rather than money. Then I came across some of “Captain Drew’s” Yelp posts which show his out-of-season Halloween schtick happens all year ’round.
