All City of Decatur logo’d items when made by a manufacturer or licensed through a retailer must give a portion of the proceeds back to the community.

We researched the possibility of flags several years ago and the cost was way too prohibitive for our small budget. However, now that technology has improved, it may be possible to have flags printed at a reasonable cost without having to purchase hundreds at one time. We will definitely look into it again. If anyone out there has a good “flag contact,” send it on – we talked with the folks at Atlas Flags way back when.”

We do have some of the merchandise here in the Community & Economic Development Department (2nd floor of Decatur City Hall). However, we encourage you to purchase it from one of our retailers (just in case you might purchase some other merchandise from them while you are there!)

We have also thought about a fun kind of Christmas ornament – any feedback on that?

I agree with Altmod..I miss the old signage and friendliness of the colors as well. The lampposts sort of look like they are from those old Moose or Elk’s lodges that a bunch of old geazers hang out at. I don’t want to be mean…how does the average citizen get in on these types of simple decisions?

We carry anything associated with Decatur at Whit’s End. Anyone doing some sort of merchandise, present them to us. We carry City of Decatur tees and sweats in the winter, bottle openers, mugs, license plates. Also the Decatur Girl line of Christmas ornaments, Decatur Dad tees, and Decatur Dog Bandanas, and Koozies. We are also working with the Decatur High School Booster Club to carry DHS Spirit Wear very soon.

The City flags would be greatand a huge hit. Local pride seems much more digestable than national pride these days. If anyone goes forward with the idea, Taste in Decatur would help you sell’em. We also carry City of Decatur merchandise and some items not available elsewhere– like the City of Decatur and Oakhurst Tervis Tumblers. Some of those proceeds go back to the city. I think any City of Decatur licensed product should give back-set the bar high.
