Thanks for the update Peggy!

I know from personal experience that there has been some really significant overgrowth on Scott's sidewalks. Couple that with the 50 mph traffic and it can be a pretty dangerous situation for walkers.

The City worked with the Georgia Department of Transportation to reclaim existing sidewalk that had been reduced by overgrowth. In addition, vegation that blocked pedestrian access was removed. The crews worked with residents along the route to make sure that special plantings were not damaged or removed.

All of the sidewalks were edged and cleaned of all over growth in order to reclaim the full width of the sidewalk surface for safe pedestrian usage. The grass strip was graded to be level with the curb and sidewalk. The street gutter was cleaned of all dirt and debris to allow for proper drainage of the roadway. Hydroseed was sprayed on all disturbed areas (that's the green stuff you see) to provide a nicely grassed strip along the roadway.

The Georgia Department of Transportation will be repairing damaged sections of existing sidewalk as well as repairing drainage inlets along the right of way.

New sidewalk may be added on the south side of Scott Boulevard where there is no exisitng sidewalk but funding will be limited so no decisions have been made.
