Feather Baby Moving Into Whit’s End Space on West Ponce

March 19, 2010 | 9:14 am

Brown paper has been up in the windows of the old Whit’s End space – between Twist & Scoot and Fleet Feet – for weeks, but only very recently did these signs appear.

Feather Baby’s organic, layette collection is sold in stores nationwide, but this is the company’s first store, according to its website.  The store will feature “nursery, layette, decor, gear, toys and everything else you’ll need to keep your baby happy and healthy.”

No need to do anything but let us know, we will keep track of everything.

Spring items are here, and more is arriving weekly. The remaining winter items are so discounted, it hurts! So, come and get em! For a limited time, if you buy a clearance item, we will give you 10% off your purchase of a new spring item.

Decatur January Offerings

January 15, 2009 | 3:44 pm

Here’s a round up of recent offers, events, and specials that I’ve gathered up recently…

  • The latest’s Sawicki’s newsletter announces that Lyn is now carrying local Johnson Family Farms whole milk for only $3.65 a half-gallon. (From my own observations, that’s cheaper than organic from the grocery store) and selling eggs from her own backyard chickens for 40 cents each.  Also Sawicki’s is doing a poll on perishables over at its website.  Head over and give a little quick feedback.
  • Tastings will host an Inauguration Party next Tuesday from 6p-whenever.  There will be Inauguration-themed trivia, beer specials, buckets of beer, 1/2 off Pilsner Urquell, food specials, ½ off sandwiches, ½ off house wines and themed cocktail.
  • Decatur EdTV is now offering a new monthly newsletter (pdf) to help residents stay up to date with the charter school process.  Andrea says hardcopies might also soon be available around town.
  • Whit’s End is in the midst of a Winter Clearance Sale.
  • Poetry Atlanta comes back to Wordsmiths’ stage this Saturday at 2pm.

Business owners – if you have any other upcoming events/sales/new offerings, send them along and I’ll add ‘em to the list.

Bulldog Cards Help You Save at Decatur Area Restaurants

December 17, 2008 | 10:21 am

Carl makes this easy for me…

I purchased [a Bulldog card] from Whit’s End.  This is a win-win for everyone, supporting the school band and at the same time making it more affordable to patronize local restaurants.  Unlike many other coupons, none of these deals require the user to dine-in!  Bulldog Cards offer deals at 11 area restaurants; and the entire $10 cost supports the Decatur High School Band. Use the deals as often as you like; they are valid through May 2010!

See the list of great deals at 11 Decatur area restaurants after the jump… Read the rest of this entry »

Whit's End Now Carrying Partner Cards to Benefit Camp Twin Lakes

October 14, 2008 | 8:21 am

A good friend ‘o mine runs a lot of programs out at Camp Twin Lakes.  Its a great camp with a great cause, just out I-20.

The guys at Whit’s End write in…

Whit’s End is now carrying Partners Cards that will benefit Camp Twin Lakes.  This card costs $60, and when used November 1-9 at over 500 shops and restaurants in the greater Atlanta area, (including Whit’s End and many others in Decatur), shoppers and diners can save 20% on non sale items or their dining bill.  Camp Twin Lakes is a not-for-profit organization offering year-round recreational, therapeutic, and educational programs for children with serious illnesses and life challenges.  100% of the sale of the card goes directly to Camp Twin Lakes.

Whit's End to Carry Decatur High Spirit Wear

July 28, 2008 | 3:53 pm

According to Whit’s End’s new blog, the store is now carrying Decatur High Spirit Wear.

“We now have Decatur High School Spirit Wear. Come in and shop when you can and help support our local high school, community, and the DHS Booster Club. You don’t have to go to a game, or school event anymore to purchase these items, stop in when you want. If you don’t live nearby, give us a call, and we can make arrangements to get items to you.”

What kind of items are we talking about here?

Twist & Scoot To Open in Intaglia Space

July 3, 2008 | 2:01 pm

We’ve been hearing rumblings about a scooter store for months now. Most recently the city teased us in the Decatur Focus with news that a scooter store was coming, but gave few details. Well, thanks to Jeff at Whit’s End, I finally have a name and location for you! ….drumroll please….

Midtown’s Twist & Scoot will open a new store in the old Intaglia space on West Ponce. No details yet as to when, but they certainly couldn’t have picked a better time to expand, with scooter sales going up faster than gas prices. A recent Time Magazine article (“10 Things You Can Like About $4 Gas“) says that Vespa sales are up 109% since last year.

Perhaps the close proximity to our house will help convince my wife of my undying NEED for a sporty little scooter. But unfortunately, MARTA is still a more viable option for me. ;-)

Best of luck to all involved!
