Savi Provisions Now Open in Downtown Decatur

What’s the extent of their food and drink offerings?  Here are the details from Savi’s press release…

One stop shopping just became even savvier with the opening of Savi Provisions, an Atlanta owned neighborhood destination selling locally sourced gourmet and organic foods, fine wines, craft beers and now spirits too in Decatur. Now open on the corner of W Ponce de Leon Ave and Commerce Drive (former home to Cook’s Warehouse) this is the sixth Savi Provisions in the metro area and the first to offer spirits as well as a deli counter and fresh flowers.

“I am very excited about our new Decatur store,” said Paul Nair, CEO and founder of Savi Provisions. “This location has a heavier focus on food service and prepared items such as grain bowls and made-to-order salads. We are excited about our deli counter and sidewalk style seating along Ponce. Plus, our wine, beer and spirits set this location apart from our other Savi stores.”

Comprised of 4,200 square feet and 1000 square feet of spirit section, Savi Provisions is open seven days a week and features complimentary parking on-site in the parking lot behind the store just off of Commerce Drive. Prepared food includes tasty sous vide items, as well as freshly prepared grab-n-go meals. Guests can also order from a gourmet menu and enjoy a meal on-site or take it with them.

The market offers more grocery items to choose from than current locations and the Savi menu includes breakfast options such as omelets, Chia Seed bowls, biscuits, bagels and croissants, as well as breakfast burritos, sandwiches and weekend brunch. A few lunch highlights include the Quinoa Super Food Bowl, a Simple Salad and Wild Mushroom Tart, and tempting sandwiches such as a grilled cheese with three cheeses on sourdough bread with tomato soup and a shaved prime rib French Dip complete with horseradish mayo and porcini au jus on French bread. Savi sides will round out any meal and tinier taste-buds will be able to enjoy items from the kids menu.

Fine wines, artisan beers and spirits are also be available for off premise consumption. The market retails over 2,000 SKU of wines and beers all hand selected from domestic and international wine makers and local, national and international craft beers.

Catering for large or small groups is also available and special tastings and events as well as weekly specials will all be part of the gourmet experience.

Savi Provisions Decatur is located at 180 Ponce de Leon Road (30030). Market hours will be Monday through Thursday from 7:00 am until 10:00 pm; Friday and Saturday from 7:00 am until 11:00 pm and Sunday from 8:00 am until 10:00 pm. Spirit hours will be 9 AM to 10PM. Savi Provisions New Decatur Location Will Have Separate Liquor Store

The City Commission granted both a beer and wine and a distilled spirits liquor license to Paul Nair, the owner of Savi Provisions, this past Monday night.  As previously reported, Nair is planning to open a Savi Provisions in the former Cooks Warehouse space downtown.

With the application, we got a bit more info on the layout of the new store and how it will legally accommodate the sale of “distilled spirits”, which can’t be sold in grocery stores in the state of Georgia.

In short, spirits retail will be sold in a separate space, as detailed in the application…

This business is being created out of a portion of the former Cook’s Warehouse space. It will be separate from the rest of the retail area and have separate ingress and egress to the exterior of the building as required by {3) above. The point of sale will also be separate from other business uses in the remainder of the original space.

Renovations to the space are currently underway, according to the application.  An AJC article from June noted that Savi would be opening in Decatur “this summer”.

Savi Provisions Planning New Decatur Market in Former Cook’s Warehouse Space

Within an AJC article this morning about Savi Provisions coming opportunities/challenges with a revived Amazon-owned Whole Foods, there this little nugget which will be of great interest to many Decatur folks…

[Savi owner Paul Nair is] deep into plans to expand Savi Provisions, whose stores take up a fraction of the space covered by typical Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s. He plans to open an outlet on Pharr Road in Buckhead in late fall and another this summer in Decatur where a Cook’s Warehouse had been.

Savi is an upscale local grocery store with four Atlanta locations to date.  Check out their website for more info.
