Next Stop has some photos sent in by artist, and owner of Rose Squared Gallery and Framing on Clairemont, JD Issacs, who recently completed a commission for Parker’s on Ponce.
As Dennis at Next Stop says, its nice to see Parker’s keeping it “in the family!”
KC alerts us to a new 80% off discount code on restaurant.com: “MENU”.
He goes on to say, “The $25 gift certificates are normally $10, but are $2 with the code. They also sell $10 certificates for select restaurants for $3, making them 60 cents each with the code. (They have these promotions often.) They have Parker’s on Ponce and Ted’s Montana available (among others!). I just bought a $25 certificate for Ted’s for $3.”
Also, Carl recently reminded me of a March Ted’s promotion, where if you upload an original ode to Ted’s, be it an essay, poem, or drawing, you will receive a certificate for a free Ted’s burger and a chance at winning a Prius.
I shall now demonstrate how easy it can be….ehem…
Ted, your burgers are so juicy,
I always make a mess,
But when my wife tells me to wash my hands,
I wipe them on her dress.
Hmm…I might need to rethink this a bit.
Don’t throw out that new Savvy Shopper mailing just yet!
In addition to the usual coupons to Wahoo! and Raging Burrito/Taco, I just noticed the newest issue includes some really great Parker’s on Ponce coupons inside the front cover.
Included are a “buy one entree & 2 beverages, receive the second entree of equal or lesser value free” coupon, a similar “lunch entree” couon and a $5 off $15 take-out order coupon. Coupon expires April 1st.
Plus they’re valid Sunday-Thursday, which is much better in my opinion, than the usual Monday-Thursday coupons.
In response to another post, Rusty Diamond comments on the great turnout at Parker’s yesterday for the 5th Earl fundraiser.
David has some pics over at InDecatur to prove it.
CL’s Cliff Bostock gives Decatur’s new steakhouse a mixed review.
Thanks to Carl for forwarding.

Looks delicious! And the prices seem reasonable.

So says a giant sign hanging from the patio railing. Looks like they’re finally close to opening!
…according to an update from the city in the September Decatur Focus, which is now online. Also, there are no longer plans to tear down the existing Dairy Queen and build it into the new plan. Which means the existing building will remain (which I believe has actually been there since the 1960s).

akb writes in with news that Decatur’s only independent steakhouse, Parker’s on Ponce, is now open in the old, desirable Mick’s space on Ponce. Funny, I just checked their website the other day, but it still had nothing on it. But apparently they opened Tuesday…see her note below!
Guess it was a pretty quiet open. My wife said that it didn’t even look open when we drove by just an hour ago (I was too busy feeling out the new crosswalk), but maybe word just isn’t out yet.
Well, now it is! Can’t wait to try it out!
