Decatur Still Solidly Democratic

November 12, 2008 | 10:57 am

As promised, DecaturGuy has crunched the numbers from last Tuesday’s election for 30030 and reports back that our political makeup is no different than four years ago.

Of those that voted on Election Day, 75% of Decatur residents voted for Obama…though this number excludes early voters.

To see the full analysis, including which Decatur precincts cast the most Democratic and Republican votes click HERE.

Moey On CNN Homepage

November 2, 2008 | 10:47 am

Mindy alerts us that a link to Moey’s segment on CNN Saturday Morning yesterday is a prominent link on CNN.com right now. On top of that, you can buy a CNN t-shirt with the headline “Obama Wins Candy Vote” for $15!

Its Moey Madness!  All links and coverage can now be seen on candyvote.com.

The Candy Vote Is In!

November 1, 2008 | 10:38 am

The candy has been tallied and though there were some reports of tampering (you people should be ashamed of yourselves!) the results are now posted in a rather hilariously edited video over at candyvote.com.  (I especially like the look on Mindy’s face at the end when Moey announces how many days left ’til the election)

Great job guys!  Hope you had fun on CNN this morning!

On another Halloween-related note:  We got far fewer trick-or-treaters this year than last.  :-(    So, needless to say there’s a ton of candy left and no one to give it to.  I think my co-workers are about to put on a few pre-Thanksgiving pounds!

Early Voting Experiences

October 28, 2008 | 9:50 am

David pointed out this blurb in the AJC this morning about early voting downtown…

About 200 people were in line when voting started at the precinct on West Ponce de Leon Avenue in Decatur. But the building was open, so the early arrivers stood inside in a line that snaked down a hallway just off the lobby.

Peter McDade waited 45 minutes, arriving at 6:45 a.m. and walking out at 7:30 a.m.

“I thought it would be about an hour-and-a-half,” he said.

Altmod writes in to DM with her own account…

Early voting went VERY smoothly.  The line starts outside and snakes around inside.  It looks long and there were a ton of people voting but we only waited outside for 10 minutes and then inside for 20 minutes.  They were running a smooth operation (we filled out forms on clipboards and had our id’s verified while we were in line).  It went WAY smoother than usual–I usually vote at the Baptist church.  Very professional.  Indie Coffee House even put out a sign that reminds chilly line waiters that they sell hot drinks!  Vote early!
