I’ve been meaning to mention this. From Tomorrow’s News Today….
A local franchise of Play it Again Sports
will soon reopen in a new home in Decatur. The Play it Again Sports at North DeKalb Mall closed and will open this coming Monday, May 15th at North Decatur Plaza. The second-hand retailer will open in place of the shuttered McMahan Shoes which closed in the center last summer
after nearly 70 years in business in Atlanta.
The new Play it Again Sports will be 4,000 square feet, significantly smaller their 6,446 square foot North DeKalb Mall store, but more in line with the 3,500 to 4,000 square foot average store size listed on their corporate website.

You may have recently noticed a new sign up for “Lion Tamer Bread” in the T’Kila’s plaza along Clairmont Road just north of Decatur.
The bread is already available at area markets, including Oakhurst Market, Candler Park Market, The Dinner Shoppe and Splash of Olive. Now the business has opened a brick and mortar location at 1248 Clairmont Road.
According to the bakery’s Facebook page, they opened this past Friday with four breads…
1. the traditional white sourdough
2. blonde – same flours as the white, plus wheat germ + dark rye
3. 30% rye – like deli rye but with more rye flavor + caraway seeds
4. whole wheat/oat porridge with molasses

Brianc sends in this pic from at 1580 Church Street where the new Tesla service center is being created across from Nalley BMW.
David alerted us to this news back in June.
David writes in that after being told by staff at the Marietta location that a second Atlanta Tesla Service Center would be opening near Decatur later this year, he’s been looking for signs of life at the former Isuzu dealership at 1580 Church Street (Google streetview), across the street from Nalley BMW.
After spotting a dumpster in the driveway recently, he took a closer look and noticed architectural plans with a large Tesla logo tucked inside the front door.
David states he’s heard the new location plans to open around August.
Rodney points to this Q&A on Creative Loafing with Decatur Package Store owner Herb Chereck. Here’s a taste…

From Tomorrow’s News Today…
Red Mango has closed its last Atlanta location.
The frozen yogurt and smoothie shop closed their location at North Decatur Center at the intersection of North Decatur and Clairmont Roads last week.
Dallas, Texas-based Red Mango
, an international froyo chain, entered the market (via a local franchisee) in 2010. The first location opened in Dunwoody in September followed by
Emory / Decatur in December. A third was slated for Howell Mill Village near Howell Mill and Collier Roads, but given troubles the existing stores were experiencing, those plans were abandoned. (Chipotle Mexican Grill opened in the space last year)
