2. Today is the last day for 1690 WMLB “The Voice of the Arts”, Atlanta’s most eclectic radio station.

   1. Yeah, it’s a real disappointment. Do you know why they’re shutting down?

   2. I’m confused. I can still hear the station. What’s up?

      1. Try today. They may have gone dark Sunday night. I haven’t checked.

4. Anybody have information on what’s going on with the Oak Brewpub that closed last year? It’s a nice location, and they’ve already spent a bunch of money installing the brewtanks and renovating the space to make it suitable. I’d think if it had good beer and food, people would come to hang out there.

   1. The folks from Argosy bought it and are presently ramping up to reopen. Concept/name, etc. not yet announced.

   2. They originally aimed for a March re-opening, but that’s the restaurant biz for you. I peeked in the windows about a month ago and from what I could see they looked to be quite a ways away.

6. We have a wood privacy fence built ten or fifteen years ago with deteriorating areas that need some repair/replacement work. Any recommendations?

8. Anyone know what’s going on with Furside Pet Grooming behind Big Tex? I’ve called a couple of times over the last few days. No answer. No machine.

   1. Neighbor said they had a sign on the door but I don’t remember reason for temporary closing, maybe some renovations or repairs?

10. Happy Mother’s Day Decatur Metro World!
    Every Decatur mother is special and it’s hard to pick a top ten in the history of Decatur but Agnes Scott, the mother of Colonel George Washington Scott deserves some recognition today. I read recently that Colonel Scott’s love of education came from his mom. She stressed a good home education and apparently young George never forgot how much his mother help shape his good character. Most of us know he helped charter what became Agnes Scott College but he also was influential in founding the Donald Frazier School For Boys (once located in the vicinity of McDonald’s). Decatur’s outstanding public school system developed from the Frazier School more than 100 years ago. You could say that Mrs. Agnes Scott is the founding mother of public education in Decatur.
    So here’s a toast to Mrs. Agnes Scott and all Decatur moms past and present on your special day.
