    1. Someone ran a red light. http://www.decaturish.com/2017/12/decatur-police-driver-who-ran-red-light-on-east-ponce-caused-accident/

    2. I was wondering about that. I was out for a run this morning and came up on the accident about the time DPD responded. It looked pretty bad for the driver that ran the red light — it doesn’t sound like they were too badly injured, though.

  1. Does anyone know what is being built on DeKalb Ind Way across from St. Francis Veterinary Hospital (i.e., between N. Decatur Rd and L’Ville Hwy?)

  2. Hey neighbors…

Since it’s a quiet day on DecaturMetro, I thought I’d put in a plug for a new quick and easy way to support the Decatur Education Foundation: rounding donations. The idea is simple. You securely register your debit card or credit card through the DEF website, then each purchase made with that card is automatically rounded up to the next dollar and the change is sent to DEF.

This service is made possible by Caring Cent, a micro-donation platform that connects consumers and non-profits around the country. It’s a pretty cool concept, but maybe I’m biased because one of my good friends from grad school started the company only a few years ago.

Anyhow, DEF just signed on with Caring Cent, so I’m helping to spread the word. To sign up, just go to the DEF homepage, click on the Donate button at the top right, and then select Caring Cent from the drop-down menu. The rest is self-explanatory.

I hope everyone considers this opportunity to support DEF and our students.

    Thank you!

    1. This is a brilliant idea. I went right to the link and registered my cards. Several years ago, my bank did a similar thing and rounded up credit cards and put the $ in a savings account. I was pleased to find several hundred dollars at the end of the year that I never really missed. So it will be a great boost to DEF.

  3. I was looking at some of MARTA’s publicity on the East Lake station redevelopment and it seemed to include the AT&T property across the street. Is AT&T moving out?

  4. So, got an email that says Mr. Clark, (now former) principal at Renfroe, resigned. Here’s Dr. Dude’s email:

    “Dear Renfroe Parents and Guardians,

City Schools of Decatur and Renfroe Middle School strive to provide the best academic experience for our students in a safe and positive atmosphere.

After much thought and consideration, I have accepted Johnathan Clark’s resignation as principal of Renfroe Middle School effective Friday, December 15, 2017.

Although it is regrettable to have a change in school leadership during the school year, this is the best course of action for the school and district.

CSD administrative staff will provide additional support to the school during this transition. Mr. Bruce Roaden, former principal of Renfroe Middle School, will be acting principal until an interim principal is named. Mr. Roaden and I will also work with the SLT to make the transition as smooth as possible.”

  5. “After much thought and consideration, I have accepted Johnathan Clark’s resignation ”

Nice of him to let him quit and not force him to work there any longer.

  6. Has anyone seen the City of Decatur Motorcycle Police Officer in a while?
I have not seen the motorcycle officer in quite a while.
