Dine Out at 5 Decatur Restaurants Next Tuesday To Help Fund Type 1 Diabetes Research

Next Tuesday, World Diabetes Day, five Decatur restaurants are joining the fight against Type 1 Diabetes (T1D), a non-curable, autoimmune disease in which the pancreas stops producing insulin, a hormone necessary to converting food into energy the body needs.Leon’s, The Brick Store, No. 246, The Imperial and Sushi Avenue will be donating a portion of the evening’s proceeds to JDRF, the leading global organization funding T1D research, on behalf of Charlie’s Angels.
Charlie Thompson is in second grade at Westchester Elementary and has been living with T1D for almost five years. His fundraising team, Charlie’s Angels, works to raise money for JDRF and awareness about T1D. To date, Westchester and the Decatur community have helped Charlie’s Angels raise more than $35,000 for T1D research.
