  1. On a recent This Old House episode, they visited one of those national safety labs and talked about how fires spread in homes. One of the things the mention was the “open flor plan” allowed fires to spread quicker as there were fewer barriers to contain the flames. It also allowed for more air flow to fan the flames and helped spread deadly fumes and smoke. Found it interesting.
