Mezcalito’s Owners Open “Sotolero Comida Mexicana” Just North of Decatur

Tomorrow’s News Today announced back at the end of last year that Tikila’s on Clairmont Road, just north of the city limits, would soon be reopening as Sotolero Comida Mexicana.

What I didn’t notice at the time is that TNT also mentioned that Sotolero is owned by the same folks who own Mezcalito’s Cantina in Oakhurst.

It’s now been open for a few weeks, but according to a note on the Oakhurst message board, Sotolero has just received it’s liquor license.  So it may be time to check out their menu and head on up there!

  1. They may have the license, but they aren’t pouring yet.
the specialty lunch tacos are tasty though

  2. Went a few weeks ago… fancy taco/mexican joint prices without fancy taco/mexican joint quality…

  3. I’m curious why this location keeps having Americanized Mexican places open and close. Were the same owners trying to rebrand, or is it just a coincidence?

  4. (Sigh) Grammar police. “Sotol is a distilled spirit that grows in a specific north region of Mexico. It can be found around dessert like terrain which gives its unique earthy and sweet taste.” I’ve heard dessert called lots of things, but never “terrain.”

    1. well, also, sotol is a distilled spirit made from a plant that grows in Northern Mexico- the distilled spirit doesn’t grow anywhere

      1. Wow. I always hope when I am in a foreign country they will be patient with my clumsy attempts to use and speak the native tongue.

  5. I’ve always liked Mezcalito’s, so I’m hoping this will be good. Especially because Tkila’s was disgusting!

  6. Oh this is great news! Big Mezcalito’s fan here. I do want to give a shout out to whatever this place was called about two or three versions ago–Los Bravos? They had a potato enchilada that was super good. It was almost worth toughing out the depressing restaurant to eat it.
