  1. Good morning,

I could really use a therapist recommendation for my stressed-out senior.
    Thank you,

    1. Do you want somewhere near Decatur or are you flexible to other areas? I have some great recommendations for Dunwoody. They may be able to do home visits as well.

    2. DHS is offering stress workshops at school before and after school (with counselors from Pathways)

  2. Does anyone know the status of the streetlight mods that were supposed to happen? My understanding is that they were going to add some kind of sheild onto them so the light pointed down on the street, rather than all over the place….

    1. I spoke with someone at GA Power about the new LED streetlights. It was explained to me that the fixtures themselves are able to change where light is broadcast and that physical shields would be unnecessary. This was in regards to the tall street lamps on telephone poles and not the smaller pedestrian lights.

    2. I asked for a shield on a particular light and it hasn’t been installed yet. Ask David Junger at Public Works.

  3. Anyone know of any fun happenings around town for St. Patrick’s Day? Assuming McGee’s, The Marlay, and Steinbeck’s will all be crazy and hard to get in to tonight. Any alternatives?

  4. Anybody know anything about the new brewpub (The Oak) in Oakhurst? I heard a rumor that it was open, but I’m not seeing anything on the web to indicate that it’s up and running.

    1. Aaaand, The Oak IS open (a “soft” opening). Y’all, the food was unbelievable. A small, limited menu, but the quality, preparation, and presentation were top notch. I am from South GA, and my parents were with us tonight. My mama, who has eaten and also cooked a damn lot of fried chicken in her life, agreed that this was some of the best she’d had. They don’t look open. You have to wander around to the side and find the door. Check ’em out when you can. I wish this place the best of luck, and we’ll be back soon!

        1. They did not have any hours posted, so it may be a bit of a gamble for the next couple of weeks. There is a phone number on their (very not-yet-developed) Facebook page.

  5. Does the City of Decatur have a special ordinance regarding golf carts and the like being used on public streets? The state ordinance is restrictive but allows municipalities to make changes as was done in St. Simons Island and Jekyll Island.

  6. Visited Ebrik Coffee Shop this morning. Ordered pretty standard coffee drinks, which were great! Talked to one of the owners, who was quite welcoming. Will be back when I have more time to try a different coffee. Highly recommend you try out this new business in Decatur!
