Can Someone Take This Pup In?

My friend went to Adair Dog park this morning and found an abandoned puppy. Someone dumped him there last night. She has to go to work and there is no one to take him in. Can you post something so this puppy is taken in by someone?

If you can help or know someone who can, please contact Marianne at [email protected]

  1. He should be taken to Dekalb Animal Services, on the off chance someone is looking for him. The “dumper” might not be the owner. Also, once there, he could potentially be acquired by a rescue group. Rescue groups cannot take in strays and strays have to pass the stray hold requirement of the shelter before they can legally take ownership.

    1. If you haven’t handed off the puppy, please consider contacting Angels Among Us rescue.

  2. I’m glad the puppy has a home, but this all seems rushed. Your friend found the puppy this (or yesterday) morning? How does your friend know he was abandoned and dumped? What if he simply wandered off? Nextdoor is full of lost and found dog posts, and as Susan noted, perhaps someone is looking for him.

    1. Do you think I didn’t try to find his owner in case he was just lost? This has been publicized on numerous blogs around Decatur and NO ONE has claimed him as their lost pet. He was found alone at the dog park early in the morning, in the dark, crying hysterically and frantic. We took him to be scanned and he has no chip. I took this dog in and posted his picture everywhere and if you think I acted hastily, you should have offered to take him in and looked longer for his original owners. I didn’t see ANYONE step up to help out, other than the two people who wanted to adopt him. He is an absolutely delightful dog and deserves a good home and I would have kept him if I was able to. Thanks for your opinion.
