The Yogurt Tap Announces Closing
Decatur Metro | October 21, 2016 | 8:58 amA letter from the owners of Yogurt Tap…
Dear Friends, It is with mixed emotions that we let you know that we are closing The Yogurt Tap on November 6th. The Yogurt Tap has been a major part of our lives for the last eight years and we hope a contributor to the vibrant life of Decatur. When we opened our doors in August of 2009, we could have never imagined the support we would get from our community and amazing team members! Thank you.
Over these last eight years we also have been blessed with five wonderful children who have grown up with The Yogurt Tap. If you’re a regular, there’s a good chance you’ve seen them “cleaning” the shop, coloring on windows, eating samples and sneaking gummy bears. At this stage in our lives, our priorities for our time have changed. Although we will deeply miss The Yogurt Tap, we are looking forward to focusing more attention on our children.
It has always been our goal to provide a great experience for everyone who visits The Yogurt Tap. We will miss serving you, coming up with fun flavors and seeing families and friends enjoying good times. We thank you for welcoming us when we opened our doors and we thank you for your continued support. Over the next few weeks, we hope that you will come in and celebrate with us.
From our family to yours, thank you for being part of The Yogurt Tap’s story!
Stanford, & Lindsey Phillips & children.
WOW!
Noooooooooooo! My kids are going to be heartbroken!
Oh no! You will be missed.
I will miss Yogurt Tap dearly! So sorry to hear that it’s closing.
Thank you for a wonderful product and friendly service for all these years.
So sorry to hear this. We LOVED Yogurt Tap. Wishing them the best of luck.
Oh man. Been taking my kids there since they were 2.
🙁
Wish someone could take it over or buy it or something. It’s an institution!
If the DM Nation could crowdsource to save an owl, surely we can crowdfund to buy the Yogurt Tap. It won’t be DM’s long-desired food co-op but, hey, a yogurt co-op doesn’t sound half bad.
I hope they do solicit local buyers. Assuming there isn’t a lingering leaseholder issue like some other local closings.
Yogurt Tap will be missed.
Okay, we are now cycling into a low froyo period in COD. The WRONG thing to have happen IMHO is for 5 new froyo places to all open up at once to fill the gap and then compete with one another until they all go out of business. Having lived here forever more or less, I have seen the prevalence of froyo and ice cream places cycle up and down. Feast or famine. Stable, flatline is what we’re aiming for. In this era of social media, blogs, and interconnection, it should be easy for businesses to scan the horizon for what’s about to open and avoid opening the same type of small local business in the same tiny city as 5 others, right?
Man this is a bummer. We didn’t go there nearly as often once we moved out of downtown, but that place is a gem.
The yogurt tap was an important part of our children’s growing up. We will miss you guys. You guys delivered so many “good girl” reward yogurt, you will forever be associated with the BEST behavior. Best wishes with your new endeavors and thank you for giving us such an awesome place to hang out.
Nooooooooooooooooooo! Loved this place. Stuck with it when the froyo craze began and ended. Glad it outlasted them all! Best of luck in your future endeavors!
I’m just now reading this and I can’t believe it. Yogurt Tap is our favorite in downtown Decatur. I’m so sad – just so sad about this. Our family would happily chip in to help save the Tap if at all possible.
