  1. ADULT players needed for a small five-a-side-style game. Sundays at 4:30PM at Druid Hills Middle School. All ages of adults welcome (sorry, no children). For more information text Jerry at 404-377-1679.

  2. The Cheese Fest Atlanta is back for its 4th year. New location at The Freight Depot downtown. VIP tickets are sold out, but General Admission is still available. Get tickets at http://www.thecheesefest.com/events/atlanta

  3. How has the beer garden at Revival been? Anyone frequent that place recently or often? Thoughts/reviews?

    1. We stopped by one evening to find a few people there, but quite a few menu items were out… from a food truck, I think. As-is they are mostly meaty options (I know, I know, German beer garden concept). The entrance is through their dark parking lot and didn’t seem particularly welcoming. We are not clamoring to return.

    2. I recently chatted with a relatively recent American resident who grew up in Germany. He was a huge fan and made a point of stressing that, as an homage to the German Beer Garden, they really did it up right.

I have no idea if that means it’ll suit the tastes of Decaturites (I do like it personally though), but it’s apparently the real deal either way.

  4. Can anyone recommend a place in Decatur for child care? My wife and I are having our first in December (wooo!) and we checked two places out yesterday – The Goddard School and Grandma’s Finest Learning Center (Tucker).

We are really looking for something in the middle of those two, I think but we are first timers and are not sure what to look for yet! Any suggestions or recommendations welcome!

    1. Sam, Check out College Heights which is run by the city schools and has childcare for 0 to 4 and then Georgia Lottery pre-k. Decatur First Baptist and some other churches also have programs.

    2. Try Suburban Nursery on Sycamore. Our daughter attended from infancy through Pre-k. Same owner since the 1960s. Very little employee turn over. This is located inside city of Decatur, just down from Dekalb medical.

  5. I’m looking to compile a list of restaurants where kids eat free, or have discounted menus for family meals. I know there are a number in the area, but I would like to add some variety. I’ll start:

Wahoo Grill – Has a kids eat free from 5:00-6:30. (Haven’t tried this one, as it seems too nice to take my younger kids)
Taziki’s – Family dinner for 4 that actually feeds my family of 6 for two night.

Please add your favorite locations to the list.

    1. Flying Biscuit, Mon-Thurs 4:00-8:00 get a free kid’s meal for each adult meal purchased. Radial Café, same deal although they might include Fridays. It’s not free but close at Fresh 2 Order in Downtown Decatur. Kids eat dinner for 99 cents on weekends. (Possibly other days too.)

    2. Not much time left, but I believe kids eat free at Chipotle on Sundays through the end of September.

    3. Moe’s at Suburban Plaza sends me marketing texts every week that tell me that kids under 12 get a free kids meal (with each adult purchase of $5 or more) every Saturday or Sunday. You need a text code, it changes weekly. I’m sure they’d be happy to sign you up.

  6. Last day to sign up for the Fifth Avenue 5k and the Mayor’s Mile and be GUARANTEED a tshirt. Saturday October 8th. It’s going to be a fun day in Oakhurst! Come get your exercise on and then get your Porchfest on later. Register here: http://www.oakhurst5a5k.com
