I ripped these photos out of the latest Decatur Focus.  (The one with Oakhurst Porchfest on the cover.  Yeehaw!)

According to the article, five new sculptures will be installed in Oakhurst over the next two months, “marking the second phase of Decatur’s Artway rotating public art project, administered by the Decatur Arts Alliance.  The sculptures will remain in place for 2 years, before being replaced by a new round of sculptures.  So cool!

See pictures of the rest of the coming sculptures after the jump.

    1. “Geometry of Sol” by Phil Proctor (an Oakhurst resident) work is kinetic. Here is an excerpt from the description, taken from the artist’s application–“The Geometry of Sol is a dual axis kinetic sculpture that abstractly represents the relationship of two bodies in space. In this case, Sun and Earth. These two kinetic elements react to wind independently but since they are connected they also react to each others movement. “

  1. Are these original/singular sculptures, or are they replicas with multiple instances around the country, ala the old couple in front of the courthouse?
